The Power of God's Love.

Every last Sunday of the month, I always attend a seminar about God with my Dad. It was the 14th session today. The topic today was about the "Power of God's Love" ..and let me share a wonderful story to you guys. :)

Luke 7: 11-17
11- Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him.
12- As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out–the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.
13- When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
14- Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”
15- The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16- They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”
17- This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.

Two crowds met
The first crowd is following a coffin. The second crowd is following Christ. Those in the funeral procession are filled with sorrow and despair, and are leading to the cemetery. Those following Christ are with excitement and hope, and are entering a city.

Two only sons met
One was alive but destined to die, the other dead but destined to live.

Two sufferers met
Jesus, “the man of sorrows,” could easily identify with the widow’s sorrow. Not only was she in sorrow, but she was now left alone.

FOUR KINDS OF LOVE
♥ Phileo - symbiotic and conditional kind of love as in friendship.
♥ Storgy - natural love due to blood relationship
♥ Eros – kind of love expressed by the desires of the flesh. This is temporary as it subsides after it is expressed.
♥ Agape - It is unconditional and freely given.

According to the Bible, love is not confined to sexuality, nor is it primarily a feeling at all. The Bible teaches that love is a commitment. As a commitment, love is not dependent on good feelings, but rather on a consistent and courageous decision to extend oneself for the well-being of another. That commitment then produces good feelings, not the other way around. Jesus became the perfect demonstration of God’s unconditional love for us by laying down his life for our benefit.

Jesus
There exists no better example of showing the power of God’s love than the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus always minister to those who needed Him most. He healed the sick and lame, cast out evil spirits, even raised the dead. When Jesus sees the tears wrung from the mother’s heart, every thought that preoccupied Him flees. The whole of His attention focuses on this shattered woman. He knows her desperation, He feels her pain and He sees he tears.

The Widow
Twice, death has reached its icy finger into her family and wrenched loved ones from her. First her husband. Now her son. Her only son. For years she has faced an uncertain future. Now she faces it alone. With no one to hold her hand. With no one to steady her steps. No one to comfort her when she cries herself to sleep at night. No one to wake up to in the morning. No one to fix breakfast for. No one to share the holy days, or the common days, or any days at all for that matter. No one to grow old with. And no one to look after her in the autumn of her life. No one. Nothing remains but an empty shell of a house.

A house that years ago gave up waiting for a husband to come home from work. The sagging house is slumped in its own grief, retreating into itself, silent and still. There are no sounds of animated talk that chronicle the day. No ripples of laughter. No late-night conversations. Only quiet tributaries of grief running from room to room.

The Miracle
The miracle is an incredible display of the Savior’s power of love. The widow had not asked for a miracle. She had not thrown herself at the Savior’s feet and begged for the life of her son. She hadn’t demonstrated great faith. In fact, she hadn’t demonstrated any faith at all. As far as I know, she didn’t even know who Jesus was!

Conclusion
Our world is full of needy people, overflowing with men and woman who know they are missing out on something, bursting with hurting individuals who need the power of God’s love. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matt. ll:28-30

Jesus Christ is the One by Whom, for Whom, through Whom everything was made. Therefore, He knows what’s wrong in your life and how to fix it.

Is your heart broken?
Is your marriage shattered?
Are you financially broke?
Are you addicted to a bad habit?
Is your income insufficient to feed your family?
Are you needing a better job?
Are you suffering from a lingering illness?
Or simply there is something you can’t understand about your life?
No meaning?
No fulfillment?
No joy?

Jesus, as the Creator and Giver of life, knows how to make it work. Let Him take charge. Let Him overhaul you. Like the widow from Nain, He will give you His FULL ATTENTION…
